Duties & Responsibilities
The Building Official is charged with the administration, interpretation, and enforcement of the building code, flood control, coastal construction, coastal setback regulation, landscaping and tree review, as set forth in the Land Development Code.

Permit Application and Permit Documents need to be:
- On the current Town permit application form (Current Building Code)
- Complete with ALL required signatures
- Contain ALL contractor information & contractor information must be current in our system

If an applicant believes they are entitled to expedited processing of an application for a building permit or development order (FS 403.973), the applicant shall advise the Town upon submission of the application of the statutory basis entitling it to expedited processing. The Town shall give priority to applications for building permits or development orders that are entitled to expedited processing, and applicants may expect that such applications will be reviewed and processed more quickly than other applications.
